Q: How long is the process?

A: We start on day 1 with a thorough pressure cleaning while addressing all stains (to the best of our ability). If sanding is required, we will wet sand on day 1 as well. When we arrive on day 2, we will assess the clean work and begin to prep the area for seal application. Typically (weather permitting), vehicle traffic and furniture replacement can resume 24 hours after application and foot traffic within 2-4 hours.

Q: What is the application method?

A: application method does vary depending on the type of sealer used and the type of stone we are applying to. Most commonly used is our spray method, as most our water-based sealers can be applied this way. We will NEVER spray pool coping (this is hand brushed to minimize any sealer entering the pool water).

Q: What is failed sealer?

A: Failed sealer is when the sealer used was improperly applied or an incorrect sealer was used. It is very important in Florida to use breathable sealers this way your pavers can expel water. When a sealer is improperly applied or incorrect sealer is used, it can cause vapor lock or the minerals from water to be trapped underneath the surface and cause efflorescence.

Q: How to fix failed sealer?

A: The most common way to remedy this mistake is to have the sealer removed via chemical stripping. Depending on the previous sealer and the issues arising we can sometimes perform a corrective seal that will reclarify the previous sealer.

Q: Does Manatee Paver Sealing perform repairs?

A: In general, we do not perform large repairs. We will include minor repairs into the quote but do not perform large repairs or install work.

Q:What hazardous chemicals are used?

A: We do our best to use only eco friendly products. When we must use something stronger would be for the purpose acid washing, weed treatment, or sometimes stripping (this will depending on what material we are stripping).

Q: Does your company sand?

A: Manatee Paver Sealing does offer sanding services. Sealer only protects the surface of the paver itself. Sand will be hardened by the sealer, but ultimately, with weather wear and tear, sand will begin to be removed and weeds can pop through. Sand and sealer DO NOT prevent weeds. The type of sand that claims to protect from weed growth and insects is polymeric sand. Manatee Paver Sealing will only use this particular sand on large gaps and not the surface of your pavers. When polymeric sand is improperly applied it will sit on the surface of your pavers rather than in the joint. This means it will not be able to compact and harden properly and thus be removed and weeds come through. Because it hardens like concrete, it is also not a fun job to remove. REMEMBER: Sand does not need to be seen to do its job (stabilization).
